Funding FISH

Funding Fish is a grant makers collaborative dedicated to achieving sustainable fisheries in Europe.

The Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) is a set of rules defined by the European Union for managing European fishing fleets and for conserving fish stocks. Designed to manage a common resource, it gives all European fishing fleets equal access to European waters and fishing grounds.

Among numerous rules, It sets quotas for each type of fish, allowing fishermen to compete fairly.

Funding Fish was established with the express purpose of supporting the implementation of these Common Policies.

Therefore, Funding Fish seeks, evaluates and supports projects allowing small-scale and industrial fishermen, wholesalers and retailers to respect and promote the new Common fisheries Policies.

Funding Fish’s values include:
Recognizing the marine environment as a global commons, with intrinsic value.
Recognizing the role of oceans in Earth’s systems and it's contribution to food security.

To create and nurture a European donor community around marine issues and common goals.

To be collaborative and encourage others to work collaboratively.
To learn and adapt.
To be strategic and yet remain opportunistic.
