Proxité

The Proxité foundation was born out of deeply-held beliefs:

The potential of every young person, from the moment they feel supported, allowing them to regain their self-confidence and believe in their future again.

The full support of volunteers from the world of work who want to mentor young people to share with them their knowledge and experience.

Local and combined involvement of businesses and public and voluntary organisations to promote and develop the bridges between youth, school and work.

Our mentoring strategy is based on:

  • mutual freedom of commitment between young people and mentors
  • trust and mutual respect
  • regular meetings
  • the joy of imparting and receiving knowledge
  • shared ambition for success
  • the bonds formed which last long after the mentoring
  • the bond with families and all the adults gravitating around the young people (educators, teachers, etc.).

Proxité starts from the young person’s needs, aspirations and feelings to offer them a mentoring arrangement with exactly the right content and pace for their requirements and trajectory.

This ensures very positive results are attained.

Namely, since 2014:

More than 1600 young people have been supported, 61% of whom are from priority areas.

More than 40,000 meetings have taken place between mentees and mentors.

Without any selection based on their starting level, 83% of these young people have been admitted to their chosen study programmes and 86% have passed their baccalaureate.

63% of the young people asked say they have grown in confidence thanks to their mentor.

67% of the parents asked believe they are better supported with their child’s education thanks to Proxité.

Objective by 2020: double the number of young people being supported (at least 1500 per year), move into 10 major cities in France and 10 new priority areas of Ile-de-France whilst maintaining the same educational rigour and willingness to work in synergy with social, educational and economic stakeholders.
